Eligibility Criteria of the Fulbright US Student Program 2026/27:
- US Citizenship: Candidate must be a US citizen or national by the deadline. Permanent residents are not eligible. Candidates with dual citizenship should check specific award descriptions.
- Education: candidates should have bachelor’s degree.
- Arts Exception: For the creative arts, four years of professional experience or training can substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
- Language Proficiency: Must fulfill the award requirements and have sufficient competency for the project and life in the host country.

- M.D. Holders:
- Are eligible for advanced academic study, but not for internships and residencies.
- Candidates having postgraduate training of hospital/clinic research can apply for the Fulbright Scholar program.
- Proposals for medical research including clinical training, patient care, and patient contact are not authorized.
