Host Institutes in Japan:
Candidates can choose from a variety of institutions in Japan, including universities, national research institutions, and the private sector. They can get equal facilities from the private sector.
It is the responsibility of candidates to get acceptance from the host institute before applying for the Matsumae program.

Fellowship Dates:

Eligibility Criteria:
- The Japanese fellowship is open to all nationals except Japanese Citizens
- Participants must have an acceptance letter from a host institute in Japan
- Candidates must have a PhD degree at the time of application
- The age should be 45 years or less at the time of application (born in or after 1980)
- Candidates should be good in English or the Japanese Language
- Applicants should not have lived in Japan before, except for short visits like sightseeing or conferences
- Applicants must have a job in their country, and they must go back after the Fellowship to help their own country
